Winter Solstice
To attune our inner ear,
to the whispers that have grown in urgency.
The eclipse period has laid bare
what is ours to work with
if we are to embrace to this season of alchemy
๐ What has been revealed to you?
๐ Where are you feeling blocked and confounded?
When the twists and turns
of lifeโs labyrinthine course lead us
stumbling and sprinting
through hopeful corridors,
only to be confronted by a familiar wall
Water season asks that we donโt turn back,
to seek another path free from obstruction
That instead we linger in its face
Running our fingers over its surface;
Communing with the texture
of old memories, impressions and feelings.
Searching the cinder and stone of
old patterns and beliefs
and responsibilities that were never our own
Bricks that were laid upon us when we were small
Piece-by-piece
as our young backs
grew strong and accommodating.
Bricks from which we dutifully fashioned
the walls and fortresses
that once promised safety, stability and belonging
But now, keep us
from nourishing our essential selves
With curiosity and compassion,
rage and defiance;
Sometimes scratching,
sometimes sundering
We are each dismantling the wall
that stands before us
